{"id":4562,"date":"2020-06-13T10:26:29","date_gmt":"2020-06-13T17:26:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alteritas.net\/GXL\/?page_id=4562"},"modified":"2023-04-17T10:02:22","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T17:02:22","slug":"road-house-a-redneck-odyssey","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/alteritas.net\/GXL\/?page_id=4562","title":{"rendered":"Additional Paratexts for Skinny-Dippin&#8217; with Alligators \/ Road House"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Notes:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/alteritas.net\/entwistedtongues\/skinny-dipping-with-alligators\/\">Skinny-Dippin&#8217; with Alligators<\/a> <i>is a comic narrative poem in Southern speech, more precisely \u201cTexas Tawk\u201d &#8211; a language I more or less forgot over the years.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><i>The idea for it\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0<i>came to me when I was thinking about travel, and in particular a poem by Horace which I had taught years ago. <strong>Homer<\/strong> and <strong>Virgil<\/strong> and <strong>Beatrice<\/strong> enter as character names, hence the spurious subtitle, a <\/i><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Redneck Odyssey<\/span><\/strong>. I wanted to write in the soft, swangy accent of my youth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><i>I fiddled at a while till I realized I&#8217;d need some help.
