A young man loved a woman<\/span>
\nwho preferred another man.<\/span>
\n He in turn yearned for<\/span>
\nanother woman\u2019s hand.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first one, on the rebound,<\/span>
\ndonned the veiled gown<\/span>
\nwith the next who crossed her path.<\/span>
\n Her lover then broke down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Such an ancient story,<\/span>
\nthough it feels always new.<\/span>
\nthose to whom it happens,<\/span>
\ntheir hearts are sundered in two.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ein J\u00fcngling liebt ein M\u00e4dchen,<\/em><\/span>
