Synesthesia, metaphoric transfer among the senses, was a resource of language long before the French symbolists announced they had discovered it. No doubt that their experiments with hashish and opium \u2014 almost all they had available \u2014 did facilitate their grasp of it. I know there is a lot of bad shit out there, but part of me applauds those who experiment <\/b>with pharmceuticals instead of just ingesting them passively by prescription.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nNo sound straggles out of spectral sequence.<\/em><\/span>
\nEven drops off eaves & lashes patter<\/em><\/span>
\nto a beat. Branches reach out to shake hands.<\/em><\/span>
\nO, the radiant\u00a0symmetry of the elms,<\/em><\/span>
\nretinal veins through which suns stagger\u00a0<\/em><\/span>
\non stilts, suturing folds of soil and sky.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
