Ta missive annuelle est bel et bien un des plaisirs auxquels j e m’ attends avec anticipation chaque anniversaire.<\/p>\n

C’est d’autant plus le cas quand je passe le cap de 80, \u00e2ge que je ne croyais, ni m\u00eame esp\u00e9rais attendre quand j’\u00e9tais plus jeune.<\/p>\n

Il est touefois vrai que je me porte (relativement) bien. Ma Parkinson semble de plus en plus de type \u00abclassique\u00bb, celui qui affecte les mouvements et l’\u00e9quilibre, ne produisant pas de d\u00e9mence (du moins,\u00a0 <\/span>j’aime blaguer, rien comme tel je ne d\u00e9tecte). Je suis clumsy, c’est vrai,\u00a0 <\/span>je me d\u00e9place avec une canne, mais je reste de bonne humeur. Je me suis m\u00eame lanc\u00e9 dans l’\u00e9tude des sciences neurales, comme hobby. Je les trouve passionantes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

J’ai vu que Fr\u00e9mont se fait remplacer. Je ne savais pas qu’il restait \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. C’est impardonnable.\u00a0 <\/span>Marie-\u00c8ve Sylvestre me semble \u00eatre une excellente rempla\u00e7ante, elle est au moins une des n\u00f4tres.\u00a0 <\/span>Je note que Marc Charron acc\u00e8de finalement au d\u00e9canat des arts. Moment pivot pour toi et moi, car nous l’avons embauch\u00e9 \u00e0 l’\u00c9cole de traduction, il y a presque vingt ans. J’ai confiance en lui.<\/p>\n

Like you, I don’t like to dwell on Trump. But it’s true that this seems the perfect storm. It will take a long\u00a0 <\/span>time, if\u00a0 <\/span>ever,\u00a0 <\/span>to repair the damage he’s done. It’s more than just Trump, however. I feel particularly depressed because things in the US have gone back to how they were when I left Texas and within a few years the US.\u00a0 <\/span>At least I was lucky enough to have lived most of my life as a Canadian. In a couple years, when Nasrin retires, she’s now Associate Dean of Humanities here, we’ll have to decide whether to give up our house and friends here and return to Canada. Maybe ….<\/p>\n
