How should<br \/>\nI lift myself over you on to other things?<br \/>\nIf only I could press myself down<br \/>\ninto some lost dark place,<br \/>\na strange, still abode where<br \/>\nyour own depths do not resound.<br \/>\nEverything that touches us, you and me,<br \/>\ndraws us together like the stroke of a bow<br \/>\nwhich makes two strings sing one voice.<br \/>\nWhat instrument are we strung upon?<br \/>\nWho holds it in his hands?<br \/>\nSuch sweet song!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">*<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><i>A love lyric which has been haunting me of late. \u00a0I played violin from 9 through 11 then dropped it for reasons I won&#8217;t go into here. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><i>This to say that Rilke&#8217;s concluding image of a <a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Double_stop\">double stop<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">, when a single note is produced on two strings, rings particularly true to me. <\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">The poem is itself is such a sweet song.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">*<\/p>\n<p><strong>After Rainier Maria Rilke:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Wie soll ich meine Seele halten, da\u00df<br \/>\nsie nicht an deine r\u00fchrt?\u00a0\u00a0Wie soll ich sie<br \/>\nhinheben \u00fcber dich zu andren Dingen?<br \/>\nAch gerne m\u00f6cht ich sie bei irgendwas<br \/>\nVerlorenem im Dunkel unterbringen,<br \/>\nan einer fremden stillen Stelle, die<br \/>\nnicht weiterschwingt, wenn deine Tiefen schwingen.<br \/>\nDoch alles, was uns anr\u00fchrt, dich und mich,<br \/>\nnimmt uns zusammen wie ein Bogenstrich,<br \/>\nder aux zwei Saiten\u00a0eine\u00a0Stimme zieht.<br \/>\nAuf welches Intrument sind wir gespannt?<br \/>\nUnd welcher Geiger hat uns in der Hand?<br \/>\nO s\u00fc\u00dfes Lied!<\/em><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How should I hold my Self so it not brush against yours?
