Oddly enough it is only recently that I realized that
Austria, mostly via Bernhard, a friend I met in Innsbruck just after the turn of the century, and through Herb, my erstwhile Father-in-law. Strange that there is no built-in term for this familial role, given how many mixed families (if I’m using the right expression).
Michael I think you may be being too harsh on yourself about your writing these days. I hope you didn’t destroy what you wrote immediately after the incident.
Why did the Soviet Union collapse? I’d love to read a piece on this that is free from cant and prejudice. Any suggestions?
